to kind of defend Geoff Tate I do think he's an intelligent person and usually pretty well spoken, i think he drinks too much or something. And to be fair he did redeem himself as far as vocals go, live a few years ago he was sounding way better. But that's also probably because they were doing acoustic versions of the songs, which suit his voice much better these days

didnt know geoff tate needed defending, thank you for your brave service

I mean the guy was pretty hated for a long time by fans and people would trash him for losing his ability to perform live. which wasn't unfounded I mean he sucked hard for a while. I bring it up because I haven't seen many folks complimenting him on improving, it's not easy to do at his age

I have to admit, his vocals on this are quite good

Chris DeGarmo led the best era of the band imo.
Don’t get me wrong, Geoff’s vocals and lyrics were an integral part of their sound, but the band fell apart when Chris left.
They’re okay now, but they’re essentially a completely different band.

I love DeGarmo as much as the next Rycher, but I get a bit salty when I see endless musings for him as if the rest of the band had nothing to do with their god-run.
Geoff was every bit as responsible for it as Chris. And that's not even to mention Whip who is in my "Riff god" category and architected many of their greatest cuts without DeGarmo getting a writing credit.
The three amigos would have made a top-tier metal band on their own. Geoff and Chris were the MAGIC.
At least that's how I see things.

Each one is pretty different when you get familiar with them. EP - PL is all great.
EP - American Iron Maiden
Warning - Hints of QR Magic, but a more polished and adventurous traditional heavy metal
Rage for Order - imo nearly, like fucking CLOSE, as good as OM. Gothy, moody and dark.
Empire - a commercial metal masterpiece.
Promised Land - the fallout and swan song of something beautiful not knowing how to live with itself anymore.
