I don know man, there are some truly interesting and original-sounding riffs on here. Plague Flowers and Petrichor Weaves alone have like half a dozen riffs between the two of them that are like nothing I've ever heard.
Messy, bloated, confused, emo...I wouldn't agree with any of that but I could see why people might feel that way. But boring?...
Nah

pretty sick. not really a fan of the killswitch engage vibe at the end when the clean vocals come in but apart from that, i rate it.

"The single is taken from the epic three-part, 23-minute Painters Of The Tempest opening track"

23 minutes sounds pretty intense. I'm anxious to hear this after I get out of math.

good song, but idk, 3 years ago I thought their demo was great, then this album came out and I loved it too, but it grew off me very quickly. like it was cool for first 4-5 listens and that's it. I think I haven't jammed them since 2012 lol
oh look, 3000 comments. in 4 years. yay

I can't stand the drum sound on the new track (the bass drums sound like clicking ball-point pins), but the
song itself is extremely good so far.

They kinda sound like that on here too. It's like the drummer wants to make absolutely sure you can hear how fast he can double kick

jammin the new track

aha that could be the case.
Guitar players have doing it for over a half a century with guitar solos, so maybe it's the extreme metal drummer way of getting some payback.

production sounds pretty thin. hope it has a bit to do with the quality of the stream.

A fair amount of this album badly needs to have its fat trimmed, and holy shit this new song sounds like they did just that. If all 20 minutes of that song have that amount of focus and quality, this should turn out to be great.
Still, nothing matches "Forget Not" :P
