Alright, here's a weird thing, as I'm getting older, I'm starting to enjoy the blithe pop of early Beatles more than the later "experimental" stuff. Like on a knee-jerk level, I enjoy this more than Revolver or the White Album or Sgt. Pepper right now idk why

its better than the latter two probably, def clears pepper at least
this albums biggest problem is john pretty disproportionately smokes paul here outside of drive my car

Yeah I get that. It's one of my more favourite ones too.

This is a way better album than Sgt Peppers or the White Album, perfect transition between idol baby Beatles and zany stoner Beatles
+ Run for Your Life is a banging closer for anyone with enough mental discipline to hold their nose over the lyrics. Hysterically awful error of judgement on one front, perfect closer on all others

yeah i like run for your life. deeply deeply unfortunate lyrics aside that song is way too catchy

Album Rating: 3.2
it certainly is a bog standard bluesy whatever that closes this album by virtue of being the song George Martin put last and in no other meaningful way

if you dont mind engaging my ponder circuits what would you elect to close this brother?

you cannot devote half your personality to a band as fadeout-addicted and shy of meaningful resolutions to individual *tracks* as the Beach Boys, and then go ham on the Beatles for having the decency to wrap up this thing's largely ponderous second half with a pithy upbeat closer sry these are the rules

| |
Album Rating: 3.5
it is true that theres like 7 beach boys albums above this. best excessive fadeout band
|

Album Rating: 4.0
2nd or 3rd best Beatles. Drive Your Car remains my favorite off this (beepbeep uh beepbeep YEAH) and All My Life is pretty great too

"best excessive fadeout band"
only reason I'm gonna solicit this from you is that the only bubs contender I can picture is invent animate. no more fading!!
|
| |
Album Rating: 3.5
invent animate out here redefining the term by name dropping "fade" in every song. truly the beach boys of our time
|
| |
Michelle stinks? In what universe.
run for your life does suck though

I sing along to 13 songs and then stop wanting to—bad closer. Not a terrible song but not an interesting one musically either
I really like both halves of this album. I could see thinking it dips after in my life

I q like the thesis at the top of this page that this *the* Beatles album where you don't have to pretend you're listening for interesting ideas
