yeah Revol is the weakest because of its chorus but those first 20 seconds are insane
my favorites are This Is Yesterday, 4st 7lb and PCP

Well I didn't listen to all of Know Your Enemy, I skipped most songs halfway through because it was fucking awful. I heard all of the rest however

Like 50% of my infinite scrobbles are Floyd but whatever
Dude get Journal for Plague Lovers too, second best one after this imo. It's based entirely off lyrics that Richey wrote before he died

'Despite thinking the man a bit of a ballbag the "entertainment" world really could do with another Richey. Amazing lyrics and most importantly walked it like he talked it.'
Yep, a lyrical genius with a messiah complex, which is amusing considering he was an alcoholic.

What other Manic albums do you jam BBB?
|
| |
Album Rating: 5.0
Gold Against The Soul, Generation Terrorist, Everything Must Go and Journal For Plague lovers.
Manics are weak without Richey IMO. All of the above feature his work. Small Black Flowers that grow in the sky is beautiful.
Used to listen to this album daily for a long period of time before my boner became the beast it is. Take from that what you will.
What about you?

I like all four you mentioned except Everything Must Go which I found really inconsistent, although as you say Small Black Flowers is the bomb. Yeah, they are definitely weaker without Richey but I think they nailed the whole Britpop sound on This is My Truth, Send Away the Tigers and their latest one. Know Your Enemy was painful to listen to, Lifeblood was alright but a bit too far down the pop-rock trail, and Postcards from a Young Man was a bit inconsistent but had some sweet jams, espec. the second half.
Also "before my boner became the beast it is" lolol

Good to see you've taken the time to check them out. Although there is a lot of todge in their discography, there are gems dotted about everywhere. The whole britpop thing was never really my thing, but as you say they did pretty much get it on lock. Radio friendly rock!

As the man himself said.
"You get older and you diminish, you become a barren wasteland, there's less books to read, less music to find. You find worth in bands you wouldn't have spat on three years ago"
