i kno brorape i was kidding too. I'm sure your grandma owns big time. I think for a 5 an album has to be, as a whole, something perfect. Spoils and Goddess Gagged bring this down, and tho decent songs, keep this from being a classic imo.This Message Edited On 02.22.08

The only thing keeping this from being a 5 (which I had previously), is Spoils. I just don't like that song. Every other song is quite perfect. Although, I am finding myself not listening to just the album anymore, and only w/e comes up on shuffle; and even then I skip some songs

Spoils and Goddess Gagged are some of the better songs on the cd.

With all honesty my least favorite tracks are Bloodmeat and The Dissentience.

I believe this will be a solid 4 for most people in a couple monthes when the gleam and shine wears off. I wish they would have made Palms Read and Limb from Limb one song. It fits and id be very interested to see if on the next album they try to make a more Progressive or longer song.

Really? I still think it's fantastic but what keeps me loving those two tracks is that musical interlude that gets all carnival-like in the middle. It's just too good. And i think it's the best all-around song if only they were combined.

Oh sorry guys I thought when it says "classic", it actually meant "classic". My bad.

@bodominflames

Firstly PTH are somewhat mainstream, especially in Canada and there genre.

What you said could be said by someone who rates an Atreyu album as a 5 and whole heartedly believes that but we all know that is not the case.

So basically it's my opinion that your rating holds just a little bit more merit then said Atreyu rating.

@planewreq POI is a classic and I think it would be easier to argue its status rather then Fortress.

Also my statement was not even directed at you, so it should be me now asking you to be so kind as to STFU.

But then again I like and encourage debate.This Message Edited On 02.22.08

Dude, POI hasn't been out much longer and this, and yet you consider it a classic. It seems like your rating doesn't have much more merit than an Atreyu rating either in that case.

And I didn't say that PTH weren't mainstream, I meant they are widely unnoticed apart from this site. I don't live in Canada, but I doubt they widely heard there either.

That is a different take on these two songs, which are my favorite on here.

I DO live in Canada, and Fortress reached #1 for sales when it came out, but I have yet to hear them on MuchMuisc, MTVcanada or the radio. This Message Edited On 02.22.08

that's sort of the point. yours don't either.

Lol that's so lame man, we're getting no where so if you wouldn't mind.....

@bodominflames

We'll luckily I do and I'm telling you AGAIN that they are very NOTICED, ESPECIALLY for their GENRE.

Ok with that cleared up.....

Basically I'm basing my rating genre-wise, along with personal appeal, with that MTB are hands down one of the best (pop) math rock groups producing staples within the genre, much like Don Cab.

They have an incrediably proggresive musicianship and have crafted a sound distictively their's (could the same be said about PTH?). Also I'd bet that their albums 5,6,7 years from now we'll be viewed by math rock fans as a classic where as I have a tough time believing Fortress would.

I know that's not quite fair because the math rock genre is fairly new/small and therefor easier to stand out but it doesn't change where PIO stands.

Also diversity, POI is one of the most diverse albums (hard to achieve when very technical), where Fortress can be samey sometimes and it loses it flare after awhile.

I didn't want this to be a PIO vs Fortress since I love em both and also it is stupid for me to be arguing this if the consensus around here is "if it's your favourite records, a classic (5)" but I whole heartedly think that Planet of Ice is a classic and the same for any 5's I give out.This Message Edited On 02.22.08

Thanks skullcrusher, I found it funny how he was telling me how well known PTH are in Canada.

But they have been featured on MuchMusic (music videos), even back when they release Kezia, also they have done performances for MTV canada (it is great, youtube it).

I've only heard them on the radio once or twice but I hate the radio, along with Much Music.This Message Edited On 02.22.08

Yah, i'm an idiot; I totally watched that performance too...slipped my mind

And I guess what I wrote was kinda wrong because I have seen Kezia songs on muchmusic b4, but only like twice...and Bloodmeat was being polled to play, but I believe it lost to some other band.

They were on MuchMusic and the radio long before they were even signed to a major label, long before Kezia was even thought of. George Strombs was a fan, he got them on the air. I dont see why that's relevant.

And Mediocre the fact that you said this was getting samey yet you prefer Kezia makes no sense.

Everyone else, stop dropping my fucking name. I'm allowed to point out stupid comments because I'm doing in an effort to make them stop. It's my thread, and I have to deal with 75 pages of fucking garbage and you don't. If Plath's post wasn't clear enough: can the shit, you will be punished if you keep posting off topic shit.

Both albums are samey IMO. Even though Fortress is more diverse, Kezia is more to my liking so it hasn't seemed samey to me yet.

Even if it is to your liking you can still tell if it's samey or not.This Message Edited On 02.22.08
