The Nobel Price....what a great metric for measuring what is and what is not propaganda. I am not saying that there weren't veterans that were imprisoned upon returning, but maybe the causes of that should be considered on a case-by-case basis as opposed to making ridiculous generalisations like they loved the west too much, and Stalin couldn't allowed them to live freely? And as if the U.S. is any better, essentially leaving veterans on their own with minimal societal and state help upon returning, with there being more homeless veterans than any other demographic group (Iraq was an illegal war to begin with, and the veterans have been completely left behind, with critical shortages in the VA and veterans being one of the most vulnerable groups in the opiate crisis).



Lenin and Stalin are still tremendously popular in Russia according to virtually any poll that has measured public opinion on the Soviet era. In fact, the least popular and most miserable time in Russian history according to Russian popular opinion was following the collapse of the Soviet Union in the wake of the implementation of neoliberal economic reforms, the privatisation of the majority of the country's resources, which led to a mafia state, staggering crime rates, mass inequality and poverty never seen in the Soviet period, and that paved the way for Putin.



You are entitled to your own opinion regardless of what it happens to be, but you should read and engage with perspectives from the left, given that they are literally never given attention in the U.S.. Some of the best critics of Stalinism are leftists and Marxists like Slavoj Zizek, Alain Badiou, the Frankfurt School, and left-coms, I highly doubt that the vast majority of the people that say things like you have been regurgitating have ever done so, and any legitimate claim of objectivity or balance has to consider those perspectives. And don't give me bullshit about how I don't do the same for liberal and conservative perspectives. I am a MA student in political science, and I can assure you that there is nothing else considered aside from right-wing liberal and conservative perspectives, and maybe some Frankfurt School here and there depending on the professor.

I didn't deny it. I had to read Solzhenitsyn in high school, I would assume that many others did as well, and it stands for itself as being a valuable analysis of the Soviet gulag and police state. I am denying the legitimacy of the Nobel Peace Prize as being valid criteria for scientific or ideological support for an argument, and a glance at the list of recipients from government and politics is enough to warrant it. I also didn't say that vets didn't get send to the gulag, but whatever.
