DT pretty much always did their own thing. I never found any of their stuff comparable to At the Gates or In Flames or other melodeath bands stylistically.
Skydancer is comparable to The Red in the Sky is Ours in a sense, but it still doesn't really sound like it at all though.

yeah but unless I'm missing something, it's not just the production; they clearly traded in the complex writing (especially on Skydancer) for pop sensibilities and I'm still not hearing any remnants of that on this newer music.
