I’m 1981 and thought millennials were later on. Isn’t 81 considered Gen X?

People still don't understand generation years huh

Baby boomers: 1946-1964

Gen X: 1964-1981

Gen Y/Millenials: 1981-1997

Gen Z: 1997-2014 or something

Yeah the transition years are a little flexible; it can depend on the individual and how they grew up and what they remember.

I pity the fool who didn't grow up in the 90s.

Teenage years in the 90s were perfect

Music festivals were genuinely incredible then and affordable, then they got commercialised to oblivion

Now most every headlining act at mainstream festivals are made up of 50-70 year olds because no classic bands have come out for 20 years

“Wooo, the doctors have given Ozzy, Antony Kiedis, Dave Grohl and Billie Armstrong clean bills of health - they’re ready to roll. Oh dang Iggy Pop has misplaced his false teeth”

I would love to plot the average age of headline act musicians over the last 40 years esp at festivals like Download but also your Readings and Glastonbury.

Would be terrifying

Most mainstream festivals are pure nostalgia circuit now - didn’t used to be like that. Bands were in their prime AND headlining. So much better.

Preach. I've thought this too, but maybe it's a selective view. We had stuff like Bob Dylan, Rolling Stones and Neil Young for the old - what, they're still touring??

Oh jeez it's tragic. Also people say the best band on Glastonbury was The Cure. I'm ready to be called out for ageism at any point, but IT WAS BETTER IN THE OLD DAYS.
