The gruffer barking style with the occasional spoken word stuff he did on this album was by far his best vocal performance. Nothing mind-blowing, but adequate. On the following albums he started using that higher pitched screaming and gradually incorporated clean vocals, but the guy simply doesn't have the chops to pull those styles off. His high pitch shrieks are weak and his cleans just rape my ears.
