at least you tried...these guys and many before them kind of turned the world on their ears though, if you know what I mean

In the grand scheme of things QOTSA made a very small dent

These guys were a product of their time though as was "anti-authoritarianism, arrogance, and excess". So in the foreseeable future, we won't see a new GnR, unfortunately.

Can't stand hip hop besides very few stuff and I don't have the will to look further. Besides that, once real life kicks in, "anti-authoritarianism, arrogance, and excess" have no value whatsoever.

I get blasted on here for not listening to new stuff, you guys are making my point for me, Rock for the most part is dead, or at least not as exciting as it once was, I know I'm getting old but nothing seems dangerous or edgy anymore, everything is shock value, not the same

I think this is an era were people look to "escape" through music even more that they did in the past rather than listen to something edgy. And it's not easy to shock audiences these days. Watching/reading the news is enough to desensitize you, I think.

She's somewhat older now, but she's still making music.

People just new how to be rock stars in the old days, they also made great music, there is some still being made don't get me wrong, just seems like things are so cut up into sub genres now, it is so geared to a certain audiance, not great MUSIC that fans find, it is like this is made for the death metal audience, or doom metal audience, not this is great music, and is what came out when we played together, things seem so manufactured now
