I just dunno what metric weāre using to say these dm riffs are so much worse than like Starspawn for example. Like, just comparing the t/t from that record to the opener of this one. I probably like Starspawn more but thereās no objective quality that makes it superior, theyāre both comparably technical but just different flavors of dm.

how much yall wanna bet that from here on out the dm is gonna gradually get phased out until they become a totally milquetoast 'prog metal' band

"wow hype are you saying everyone who has this, ulcerate, and/or defeated sanity as aoty are all sheep ( ͔° ĶŹ ͔°)?"
yes because Ulcerate and Defeated Sanity are definitely pandering to the lowest common denominator

This album is truly incredible. So glad to see other people mirin' this masterpiece. Been spinning this once a day for a week now. Absolute legends these guys. Three LPs out and three incredible masterpieces in their own way.

As we're now deep in Sput's oh-so-fucking-predictable "3.0" phase in the "album-gets-released-to-overwhelming-response-and-becomes-generally-popular-and-starts-appearing-on-mainstream-end-of-year-'Best-ofs'-so-folks-who-need-to-pepetually-feel-superior-start-pulling-out-words-like-'lowest-common-demoninator'-and-'sheep'" cycle, it's kinda fun (but somehow still vaguely depressing) spectacle.
As I said, we're in the "3.0" stage, where people people who probably got (at least slightly and privately) enamoured in the initial wave, are now having vague sweats that their main source of self-empowerment and esteem is an esotheric taste in music, comes under threat.
As this progresses, the 2s, 1.5s and 1s increase and the backlash is complete. All the while, the band themselves have successfully (somehow) made enough money through their talent (amazingly rare in music, these days) to make a living.
The irony of using words like "sheep", when the folks themselves are a part of the most predictable critical response arc to everything that has ever become popular, EVER, is fucking laughable.

is stage 3.0 also when paragraph masses of pure cope emerge?
there's only so many reactions one can have it's hardly unpredictable to have all of them realized

^ One thing I give you credit for; Smok, regardless of what you're saying at any given moment, I do believe that you're not particularly following any trends here as such.
I've got more respect for that, TBH.

Interesting and seemingly mostly correct analysis, Isis.
Just curious, were you under some kind of influence when you made it?

^ Lol! Not really...
Just playing out exactly as I piss-takingly predicted it would when this thread was in its 4.5/5 infancy, informed by having seen many unchanging patterns.

were actually in the phase where people are having aneurysms because posters on a music opinion website have opinions on an album that is popular and post 4 paragraph manifestos on why that is unacceptable

It also makes absolutely no sense when a lot of the lukewarm naysaying brigade (myself included) have been criticising certain aspects of this release since DAY ONE. This isnāt a response to any popularity, itās called erm⦠having a difference of opinion maybe?
