“how has this got 50 pages what happened”
Someone told Venin to check Grotesque once and she is *traumatized*

@venin, It is such an effective dive into that headspace, so fucking harrowing

@kungfu: for real. it's almost too difficult for me to revisit for that reason. it's so earnest and harrowing. it's on the level of what Lingua Ignota does to me.
@porc: at the gates better

see what gets me here is that while it's emotionally evocative it doesn't lose its catchiness in the process, allowing for more frequent revisits if you're NOT in the mood to get COMPLETELY broken down.

Why does this thread keep getting worse every time I revisit it? lol

“If I even say those are in my top 5 the response from metalheads elsewhere it's "oh your taste is basic" meanwhile those morons think Metallica died when Mustaine left.”
Meanwhile the staff have voted a top ten Metallica songs on the blog and it um features um songs…

Don't tell that to the underground hipsters that think their peak was some random demo with Ron McGovney on it and that Kirk was better in Exodus :^)

The term "metalhead" really needs to be thrown away jfc. Genres shouldnt be taken as a serious thing and should just be guidelines of "yeah sounds kinda like that". For a discussion on an album that shifts through styles people are really clinging to the idea of genre being the be all and end all

ngl i agree lmao i'm just sick of genre purists that get mad when albums like this blow up bc they're "NAWT METUL ENOUGH" like yeah I'm sure they'll turn into a cattle decap carbon copy to appease you guys LMAO

Venin for fuck sake stop with the cattle decap thing. You have made your fucking point about it and had numerous people have a go at you over it.

Everchanging Strawman sounds like a good name/title for something tbh

Dude Ectier I get it, it's just exactly what a lot of detractors I've seen not on sputnik say about this project. Literally go into any metal group on social media that's had Sleep Token discourse and you'll see dozens of people complain that they "aren't metal enough" and shouldn't be talked about. It's not even a strawman, it's everpresent on social media outside this forum. It's a mainstay in "Pig Squeals & Breakdowns" ever since the album dropped. y'all are the hallowed few that actually say the metal side is what's "bad" here.

Some people that label themselves as true metalheads are actually racist towards other genres

johnny let's call a truce i'll listen to tentenko and whatever weird thing you want if it gets this stupid discourse over and done with
@ectier: the album dropped and everyone in there started posting about it and then an equal amount of people started whining about the posts. Like just let people like things.
