“Call me crazy but the cleans in the new Failure's album, Wild Type Droid, remind me a lot of Mastodon's cleans.”
Ha! I called that in my Failure review, half way through Bring Back The Sound sounds like it could be a Mastodon chorus 100%.

Interesting, I didn't get Mastodon vibes at all when I listened through the album but listening to Bring Back The Sound right now and I can definitely hear Bronn's voice.

This turned out to be really disappointing after all. It is trying very hard, but completely misses the mark for me.

I'm also in love with the first CD, because second half has Dagger which I'm not that fond of and breaks the flow
|
| |
Dagger > most of the first half tbh
if there's anything that breaks the flow here, it's Skeleton of Splendor thru Pushing the Tides. big midway lull territory right there

What bums me out on Dagger is the ''The price we paid to know you'', repeated over and over, kinda sounds cheesy to me. The songs you mention all sound fine to me.

The biggest disappointment of the year goes to this record for sure. In need of further re-listens, but it never captured me at first listen.
