Lateralus big fans are absolutely at ease, overwhelmed, delighted and pleased.

^ Idk man, Lateralus has some absolute monster hook laden jams, I mean Parabola, The Grudge, Schism, etc. All destroy anything here.

" 'the idea is to listen to the record in its entirety with your complete attention.'

Thanks, I'd never thought of that until now. It's like an entirely new way of digesting music."

"I can confirm this hasn't made me climax, although I'm yet to make it through the album in full."

Maybe it is for you now Demon X) I hope I haven't touch your ego and still you allow yourself opening your heart towards this. 86 minutes can be hard nowadays for many, agreed there...

That's why I think Lateralus is numero uno...that's the context I was applying here. I happen to think and acknowledge true Lateralus fans put this one in number 2 after consecutive listens...(I mean...consecutive af! lol)

86 minutes of Tool can be tough on most people in general, really.

Opeth, on the other hand...

I'm yet to make it through the album due to time constraints, but accept that I should before coming to any sort of conclusion, hence my current lack of rating (or anything approaching a strong opinion either way).

That doesn't change the fact that suggesting such a thing is imperative, while undoubtedly true, is rather condescending.

As someone who ranks Lateralus top of their discography, I definitely appreciate the similarity in spirit this album bears to that one. Granted, FI is less direct, but it has similar sounds, and a similar serious, reflective vibe. My biggest problem with 10k days is how jarringly goofy it felt after Lateralus

@Demon

Two factors to know you won't like this:

- Low rating on Tool, and only 2 albums...

- Putting Aenima in front of Lateralus

Now surprise me

Culling Voices is fucking gorgeous. It really reminds me of Reflection in some sections.

Yeah Aenima is best Tool. This was, as I feared, underwhelming. Hope some more spins will make it work for me, but I'm not really looking forward to those spins. The music is as grey and repetitive as the cover.
