I agree. I think time is on Pure Comedy's side.

Absolutely. I dug it hard upon its initial release but like it even more now than ever. As much as I like 'Leaving LA', I could still do without it for the sake of this album's flow.

Upon relistens, meeting this record on its own terms and actually trying to resonate with fjm, this is really brilliant and commendable. It's an angry, frustrated strike against the world, a sort of self-righteous yet self-aware and brave record. He knew he wasn't going to win quick fans with these song lengths. I definitely missed the point my first listens.

What's funny is that basically trying to understand why people didn't hate ye is leading me to reapproach other records with infinitely more to give when approached on their own terms

I think a lot of people dismissed this too soon, it really is an album that demands patience and rewards multiple listens.

the piano player's playing This Must Be the Place, and it's a miracle to be alive

line gets me every time, one of his most sincere lyrics

I like the way he hides a sincere line in a bunch of snarky ones. They always take me by surprise.

I think this might be his best too, I don't know why people were mad about it being my first

I'd always tell someone to listen to Honeybear first, but this is his best
