By whom?? Idk who's out here still talking about DAMN rn aside from you. See how your perspective may also be biased? Which DAMN is still 3.5 for me but it's just disappointing for a Kendrick album. The idea of Carti going down in history is kind of a joke to me though like really. You think people are gonna be showing Carti to their grandkids??

Carti is literally influencing a whole new wave of rappers rn. And even tho he bit Uno's style, hes gonna be the one who's known as the innovator.

like Travis and Uzi, at the end of the day Carti wouldn't be here if not for Thugger. he's the innovator. you can argue Future too. idk if Die Lit is innovative as much as it's an amalgamation of modern trap pop music, delivered in a very concise and to the point package

Maybe have a look at the world besides your view? The next Carti album is already one of the most hyped and discussed albums of the last years. His influence is literally almost everywhere in modern trap.

I think Pierre Bourne is arguably just as influential if not more so

Yea Pierre definitely deserves his flowers, along with Metro. And yea Thugger and Future are both extremely influential.

"innovator" Lmao "Brrr brrr bitch, Cash Carti bitch" Like that man just caught a big break and is having fun. I enjoy some of his music too but it doesn't have that staying power or resonance that usually makes a classic. Not by a country mile.
And influential/successful doesn't make something classic. People flip shit over Ariana Grande and Meg, the Stallion too (who I enjoy more than any of these other current pop people we're talking rn), neither of whom have dropped a classic album or anything close. They're just big. Money and marketing is a huge factor in the success of their music. Do we think "Who Let the Dogs Out" by Baha Men is one of the most great and innovative songs of the modern era or have we just all heard it?

when I was in grade 1, this group of kids was gonna lip sync to Who Let The Dogs Out at our talent show, but one of them got sick the day of so they had me fill in as a last minute replacement

I'm NOT! lol Obviously the vibes are top notch. But it's just vibe music. I vibe to it the way people vibe to "CHILL LOFI STUDY BEATS VOL ∞" or EDM playlists y'know?
Pierre and Metro are pretty insane producers, I'll agree. Add Kenny Beats to that convo too; I think he's making moves.

Who Let The Dogs Out is a classic and it really doesnt matter how innovative or well written or simple you think the song is.

when they say "who? who? who? who?" it's actually meant to resemble the sound of a dog barking. so many layers packed into that line, it really is a fairly genius and underappreciated song. I feel like some people just can't fully grasp what it is it's doing tbh

lol How tf did I know you boys were actually gonna think Who Let the Dogs out was a classic? At this point I think if you heard audio of someone farting to beat on the radio enough times it might have a place in the discussion. Maybe that's harsh, but I just wanted to say it for the jokes.

Might as well talk about Thong Song by Sisqo in the classic convo too. So passionate. "truck TRUCK truck" "LEETTT ME SEEE THAT THONNNG!" "make your booty GOOOO"
So thoughtful. So passionate.
