The only reason so many publications have ranked this so high is that it's hip to look like you care about blackness and black problems.

Basically after Pitchfork decided that Beyoncé was good when they jizzed themselves over her self-titled it suddenly became cool for indie kids to like Beyoncé.

Beyoncé is far more palatable than most top 40 for sure but I've never been enamored of her.

I'm also not really an r&b fan though.
