this doesnt sound like an album that features any type of evolved sound. in fact it sounds like this album could've been released in the early or mid 2000s and it would've fit right in with A Skylit Drive

as someone who's listened to quite a few ph albums, i definitely hear a difference in presentation and style, but i can see how other people wouldn't pick up on that. not trying to sound pretentious, i've just spent an unreasonable amount of time listening to this type of music haha.
also, if i recall, he does nothing to justify or explain what "horrifically bad taste" is other than list reasons why he doesn't like the style of music. seems like a HARD copout
