I admit I'm not sure why I didn't 5 this.
I think it's something about this band being a little too serious. They do have some tongue-in-cheek moments on IX Equilibrium, but here and on Anthems they do dark fantasy with a very straight face. It reminds me of all the angry nerds I have met in my travels.

I think this is a bit of a symptom of the entire wave of bands from the Norwegian bm scene of the 90s, maybe with Immortal being the exception. it's kind of ridiculous to take a bunch of corpsepainted dudes seriously if they can't have a sense of tongue-in-cheek about it all.
