Dj Premier as usual doing his thing, featuring Ab-Soul, Mac Miller, Common and Schoolboy Q so it was nice seeing some mainstream artists on it as well

I love that song

his voice is quite annoying. Trying to be deep stoner kinda music.

Yeah, 'Hood Politics' is one of my favorites. I love the change-up at the beginning.

Tbh, I don't really care that Kendrick isn't the best lyricist in the world. He's good enough. It's like hating JT's 20/20 Experience just because he hasn't got the best voice (other examples are available).

if you place as much importance on lyrics as hillary does then it's a fair point

Yeah I know, it just that there is a lot more to this album than just Kendrick's lyrics and I feel that this always gets forgotten/overshadowed in these discussion. This is not a spoken word album...

But his lyrics are possibly his greatest asset as an artist, and where he really excels

Combination of lyrics and music in perfect balance is what keeps me hooked

eg. How Much a Dollar Cost which shows just how excellent his lyrics can be when he's on the top of his game and is also just genuinely a fucking great song

also sup jac

The beats are fine but I wouldn't write home about most of them tbh

The instrumentation is definitely lovely most of the way throughout and super-chill but I can't really imagine an instrumental version holding my interest for long, its the fire and emotion he clearly invests in the topics he writes about that really hook me

that plus the variations in his delivery are so good
