Haha I know just joshin! Sky Machine is amazing, the rest is just solid. It's a pretty good album.

Yeah, it's solid with a few excellent songs (Sky Machine, Aeons, Eidolon).
They recently posted a photo of them in a recording studio on Germany. Recording for album number 4 already?

I believe it's an ep but not 100% certain. Either way it's something :D

Yeah, i posted that they were considering doing an EP but they haven't really said anything about it since so i guessed that they'd scrapped the idea.
Looking forward to whatever they release anyway. I just hope that they're not recording with the same producer that did Asymmetry.

I choose to remain ignorant. I hated Asymmetry at first and it grew into my album of the year last year. I like that they toss curveballs and are unpredictable, keeps them fresh.
An EP would be neat, as long as I don't have to wait 4 fucking years for it.

I didn't hate it at first but i wasn't really loving it. I started liking it more and more with every listen. It's a good album.
Yeah, they've said in the past that they don't want to make two albums which sound the same which is very refreshing. That's kind of disappointing for the large amount of people that wanted Sound Awake Volume 2 though.
They said that they had an idea to write and record the ep and release it late this year/early next year as a sort of companion piece to Asymmetry. Songs will be reminiscent of Asymmetry material but quite a bit different aswell. Once again, this hasn't been confirmed. And yes, i don't want to wait that long again for another album.

Yeah, I really really hope they use a different producer for whatever they are working on now. The guy who worked on this
album did a horrible job. What's odd is he has done much better work in the past.

Should I get into these guys?

Sure, although I wouldn't start with this album. I'd get their first two since they are both very different.

Yeah, the Tool thing is always brought up and from what i've read the band gets kind of annoyed by it. They also say that they don't really care for anything the band did after Aenima. There are definitely similarities but Karnivool are more melodic and less riff focused.
The unevenness of the production on Asymmetry really gets me. The drums are loud in the mix one song then they're soft in the next. Likewise with bass and occasionally vocals. They don't necessarily have to go back to Forrester but i want some of that Sound Awakeishness clarity and dynamics back.

Forgot how awesome and catchy Eidolon was too.

I still think Themata is better than Sound Awake, but that's just me.

But New Day, Simple Boy and Deadman: you're a crazy person I tell ya!

Sound Awake has a few really good songs, but they are just kind of stuck in middle of a bunch of songs that are too big for their own good. I think they were trying way to hard to get that big epic feeling, and they were only successful on a few of the longer songs.
Themata is just great all the way through.
