Aha, same man. Luckily I have an older brother who got me into much more basic shit when I was younger and I expanded from there, but he doesn't really dig too much out of Lamb of God/Slipknot/Metallica, etc. I try, but to no avail.

Ah, oh well. Have you tried anything really proggy and awesome (Yes, Jethro)? Maybe that'll help. Those bands taught me just how the structuring worked and I got into prog metal in no time. Dream Theater also helped.
