" I feel like the ambient sections are important contrast/buildup for the rest"

yea this. when you have an album of songs that are all pretty much instrumental pieces I feel like they wanted to pad it out with some clips that give the album different themes

"Isn’t it possible to understand the idea conceptually but not enjoy it’s execution in this instance?"

Yes, but claiming that drone or ambient sections makes something "willfully obtuse" or "as inaccessible as possible" makes me lean towards the former. Also Terrible Canyons of Static + Atomic Clock and [Antennas to Heaven] is some of the best drone you're going to find out there so I'm not sure what else you could be looking for. I will agree that maybe a bit of the ends of Storm and Static could have been trimmed off, as those drag just a little bit for me

Agreed with MO and Trophycase. The ambient and drone sections of this are so good and well-placed throughout the record. I feel like the band sort of began losing that excellent balance after this.

The last five minutes of this record are those moments where I can't believe what I'm listening to was made my human hands.

I feel that for quite a few moments tbh

And I don't care if that makes me sound like an arse

It doesn't lmao, telling someone they're an ass for being passionately moved to that level while listening to make inherently makes them an ass, no matter what song it is.

idk what that instrument even is at the very end, a bagpipe or a really distorted guitar or something, but it's fucking amazing

I believe it’s a bagpipe, but a beautiful bagpipe it is.

Yeah and when it goes into that final descent of the scale and does that little vibrato... mmmm baby

Sometimes the gentle fragility of coquettish breeze forewarnes a storm of cataclysmic might.

The sheer weight and depth of GSYBE is as rare as a fingerprint, as indelible as a baby’s first step.

To listen is to wonder and to interpret and ponder is to guaze into the fathomless thrill of the music.

You reckon I could join the band or do I have to be even more cunty?

Throw in a few more "piss" and anarchism references and I think you're good to go...
