2 and 3 are pretty much interchangeable imo.
Also, Emery is still fantasmic.
2 lacks what all the other die hards have: a charismatic bad guy. McClane's kickassery is less fun when it's such a one-sided fight. There's really nothing interesting about the plot in DH:2. DH:3 marked the triumphant return of McTiernan, getting to see McClane on his home turf, no annoying and not that hot Holly to annoy us and not be that hot, Chester A. Arthur elementary school, SAMUEL L. JACKSON, and most importantly, a fun bad guy....
if u havent seen them in a while, watch them again. you'll probably see it.
in other news, emery is great.

I think the 3rd is overrated, seems like people like it just because it has Samuel L. Jackson, it gets kinda boring though. The new one was action-packed, and I'm a sucker for big explosion/shoot-em-up/action extravaganzas.
