Kkaren, all your favorite albums are from 1986-1992 wtf? What does that even mean?

But Base, what if I want Maynard as a daddy? That line is just heart warming to me. I also wouldn't compare him to Jesus, Maynard is clearly more in line with Buddha.

Hmm, you could be right, buddhism also makes autistic claims that lead you nowhere. Maynard is the mysterious prophet type, whose legacy and fanbase is stronger than his quantifiable output.

It means my favorite album is actually from 2009 and my name's not even Karen. Shit be whack.

But I hate music! Music is stupid.

Yes, music is stupid, but Tool transcend music reach something deeper inside of us

That's why people are still trying to deal with it here on page +550. Some feel abused by this spiritual intrusion.
And the poor fucks predictably react with hate.

Tool never really clicked 100% with me but I'm willing to give them another chance. Some of their songs like Schism is just top tier stuff.

I think the album I've most enjoyed from these guys is their EP 72826, which is more grungy and alternative (I feel like Chevelle have taken some inspiration from this sound)

Yeah, this deserves the bump to 4.5. I have to say this is the Tool record where the interludes don't exactly add much.

Urrgh I visited my friend who is a Tool enjoyer and serious audiophile.
Hearing this on elitist speakers with surround sound etc. was AMAZING.
But as the wise men say, the perfect is the enemy of the good, and now I realize I should buy better stuff for better listening experiences.

Well, you can't be an audiophile and not admit the importance of Tool. Lateralus' production is bonkers especially. I mean, there will probably never be another metal album so well produced.

Can't agree with that when Rust in Peace exists, but yeah, Lateralus is produced incredibly well too

HMM I'd say Lateralus has a slight edge technically because of its release date, and subjectively I'd say because it's done more tastefully than Rust in Peace. I find the vocals track way too loud on RIP (even tho that's part of old school metal), the bass sounds fat and nice but kind of hollow, drums also don't feel as spatialized as on Lateralus. I am mainly listening to music on headphones btw, so maybe that's why I cannot agree. However, listening to Rust in Peace (original 1990 CD of course) right now and I can see how it could sound twice as good as Lateralus on loud speakers.
