Besides Axl being an obvious douche I don't see why would anyone consider them annoying, Slash seems to be pretty cool and even if fanboys and media place them as one of the best guitarists ever (which he's not) he's still an excellent player

it's the awful hair metal tendencies that make me cringe. axl's personality is insignificant to me

I used to think this album saved music when it came out, but recently my friend wouldn't shut up about it, so we spun it, and not as amazing as I remember, still a great pop rock album, great catchy shit.

A buddy and me were talking last night, trying to identify groups that truly embodied the "rock-and-roll" attitude of anti-authoritarianism, arrogance, and excess. This was the most recent group we could come up with. It was a little depressing.

"Anti-authoritarianism, arrogance, and excess" - closest you get these days is Kanye West

I was hoping someone would remind of some great rock act I'm forgetting, but I don't think that is gonna happen.

Well, you can find bands with one or two of those traits but not the whole package.

'Excess' is surprisingly the rarest nowadays, gotta be clean living to earn those gigging bucks

Pretty much. I mean QOTSA come close, they've had to kick out band members for excess, they are all for drugs and girls, they've got a certain arrogant swagger...I'm clutching at straws I feel
