shadows took mushrooms and read a few camus books and wrote a whole album about it (and it turned out great!)
but as a long time on again/off again fan i guess i just also see it as all the quirky moments on older records (particularly the self titled, middle school alex's favorite album of all time) finally fleshed out without the commercial guardrails
like this album (the stage is applicable here too) were what i dreamed hail to the king would be and we finally got it a decade later

i kinda figured this was a missing piece of context for me, that's cool you can see a thread through all of it

think i kinda fell in love with m shadows voice over the last week. used to be the element of their music that actively repelled me from checking them out more, now it might be my favorite part lol

Just listened to this with headphones on during my flight today. There is a whole lot more going on in these songs that I wasn’t able to hear in the car or on the boombox.
Also, I listened to The Stage a couple of times over the last few days. I’m not sure which one I like better. They’re both easily top 2 for me though. Two totally different listens that compliment each other well. A win-win if you will….

i actually didnt mind the vocals here except for like two tracks in the beginning stretch of the album where they do this weird thing with his voice that makes it sound far away and kind of muffled, intermittently
otherwise i think his voice accompanies the music quite well even if it's not the standout performance of the album for me

Yeah, I honestly think his voice is way better here than on The Stage. Mostly because he doesn't sing outside of his range nearly as much

I’m sure that vocal coach has been a huge help. He’s supposedly been seeing one every day
