“ so who's going to call out ryus for abandoning no hate listens 2k23”
i didnt know what this was
this was an earnest listen
i am hate listen-free in 2023

i think the concept of endless hurr durr mental health concept albums being more 'relatable' is entirely a subjective thing. i find them the opposite of relatable, it more often than not ends up being pandering and shallow.

Some of them? Sure. If they're coming from some over the hill conservative Christian band, it reads as "my life is hard because people aren't religious enough". It depends on the writing and who's performing. Like, compare Memphis May Fire's religious groveling to, say, Counterparts or Dayseeker.

memphis may fire's latest album is exponentially better than counterparts' latest album
surprised honestly i thought they'd be as shit as their name

memphis may fire hasn't ever been "better than counterparts" ever tbh, even sleepwalking is miles below them

counterparts incessant "do a pained wail over some sunny guitar dissonance" shtick really does nothing for me
i think that's counterparts, sometimes i get them mixed up with currents due to the similar name, covers, and jerking, forgive me
anyway remade in misery is sick

Album Rating: 3.5
remade in misery is a 2.5. best since challenger but still nothing special. blood & water is the only standout and the rest is unbearably generic.
forget that one review i did of broken, it's not as good as I rated it back then.

Lmao venin’s insistance that Hit the Lights gets more track than Fade to Black or One in Metallica circles is maybe my favorite instance of absolute live-under-rock delusion posting I’ve seen in a hot second
Also gonna make the super unique point that maybe there’s more? To emotional connection? In music? Than just reading the lyrics sheet?

"Lmao venin’s insistance that Hit the Lights gets more track than Fade to Black or One in Metallica circles is maybe my favorite instance of absolute live-under-rock delusion posting I’ve seen in a hot second"
If I even so much as suggest those two are top tier metallica tracks people judge me, think I'm basic and don't know enough. Despite the fact that most of them think "Metallica died when Mustaine left" and didn't even finish their discog.
"Also gonna make the super unique point that maybe there’s more? To emotional connection? In music? Than just reading the lyrics sheet?"
Yeah there obvi is more, but sometimes the writing in a band like Maiden, Priest (post-Sad Wings), any power metal band, for example is too, cheesy, cheery, upbeat.

Add Iron Maiden to the list of venin’s patented unhinged tunnel vision on one specific artist to parade on over and over again for 15 pages while everyone else tries to tell you that you’re maybe the most reductive person on this site
Not surprised this dumb bollocks scans as emotional to your second grade reading comp tbh

Also where have people talked shit on Fade to Black and One? Is it on the threads here? I would love to see this corroborated cause I think you might just be delusional and/or taking someone like KILL seriously back in the day

Oh I'm sorry what am i supposed to do, conform to the hipsters that think tearing a band down before recommending 8675309 different unknown artists is a good recommendation strategy?
"Also where have people talked shit on Fade to Black and One? Is it on the threads here? I would love to see this corroborated cause I think you might just be delusional and/or taking someone like KILL seriously back in the day"
If I even say those are in my top 5 the response from metalheads elsewhere it's "oh your taste is basic" meanwhile those morons think Metallica died when Mustaine left.

Counterparts is metalcore, so you're bound to get a lot of "BUT THEY'RE NOT REAL METAL THEY'RE POSERS"

when i listen to music my brain doesn't process language at all
i will never in my entire life be able to recite a song verbally front to back, even one i've listened to 200 times
only sick riffs coalescing with mindful bass may move me, and it is because of this that i can remain objective about sound itself
i will NOT be emotionally manipulated by the propaganda that is lyr*cs

Dude it's not on Sputnik, if I post in a metal group on other sites "fade to black and one are two of the best metallica songs" they'll start pointing to kill em all and say "mustaine wrote 'em all" and call me basic. clearly these people think even metallica doing it is bad. and they wonder why for decades it seemed completely taboo to discuss that in "REAL" metal. Like, dude, even James had to point out that it was taboo when he was writing lyrics on 72 Seasons, which to me failed because it sounded like 77 minutes of Hardwired B-Sides and had flat as hell melodies.
