Hmm I'd say Watershed is more consistent than Ghost Reveries. Less bung notes, but also a tad over produced.

Watershed more consistent than GR? You must be trippin'

GR has got some insane high points for sure. But some sections fall really flat for me including a lot of The Grand Conjuration. Granted, Porcelain Heart and Burden are decent, but dip in quality.

Agreed hard. Makes me sad every time I see it. Heritage is the most misunderstood album ever.

Their weakest album will always be Sorceress (Even tho I really enjoy some of its tracks) and Pale Communion goes right after it.

"Heritage is the most misunderstood album ever."

Yup, maybe the huge, sudden departure clouded everyone's judgment.

It kept coming to my mind listening to this that Opeth really was trying to make this a great album but still failed, while the last few seemed like just experimentation with little expectations for greatness. I wonder if they will ever be able to make a full-album masterpiece again.

For me, this is the only conceivable reason Heritage has the lower average. People were over the shock by the time PC came around.

Albums tend to have inflated averages in the VERY early stages before inevitably leveling out a little, but the reception it received initially wasn't a particularly positive one.

After a few listens, this hit me hard. It's really good and the smoothest of the prog albums.

its sad what this band has become sometimes a band needs to let it go and take what they got and let that lineage live on instead of releasing subpar mediocre albums that they know the christcucks will love based on principle

Although I like their current direction, I feel it's time for a change. They have 4 albums that follow similar patterns and some things become predictable. I hope they'll want to mix maybe some heavier parts from the '00s into the prog mania.

Nah they gotta have 9 prog albums first, with a double album, one side sounds like camel, the other like King crimson
