indeed, zappa was in a league of his own, but zappa wasn't a rock artist in a conventional way per see
"Also, I'm 24, so I might be one of the kids you're referring to haha"
Nah, it wasn't personal, i'm just saying people (especially young ones) are oftentimes disillusioned when it comes to music. And I gave you me as an example. I remember myself disliking Sabbath's vol. 4 because of its different sound and stylistic approach. All i wanted was some more of their first 3 albums and i just couldn't find it there. And that's why i disliked it. Same goes for some led zep albums.
And guess what. These days I've been jamming the shit out of it and i keep discovering things i never heard before. So I might as well go on and write a 5 review and rant about its awesomeness.

An original idea is always a superior concept when compared to that of a better/higher quality execution

A lot of original versions be meh when the cover is good
*All Along the Watchtower by Jimi Hendrix vs the original by Bob Dylan is an obvious one*

PJ Harvey's version of High 61 Revisited is a good example of a GREAT Bob Dylan cover better than the original :P

Eh, don’t what to think of this one. Black Dog is cool, Battle of Evermore is mostly satisfying, Misty Mountain has a decent groove and I like it when the closer gets trippy in the second half.
I don’t care for Four Sticks, Rock and Roll is underwhelming (has there ever been a great song with such a generic title? - may as well call it ‘the song’). California is okay, not really my thing. Then there’s Stairway - which undoubtedly has a great second half, but takes too long to get there. It’s not of their most interesting longer compositions.
III is easily my favourite so far.
