The problem with this Album is that they almost never let the shit breath, it's just non stop hard shredding from start to finish, and it gets samey. Spit out the Bone is awesome though.

James rhythm >Dave
everything else mustain exceeds him.
which is the better band? there is no objective answer
|
| |
Dave didn't contribute that much to Metallica. People overestimate his contribution to the band.

James is a better lyricist than Dave too. And a waaaayyy better singer for sure.

Two months on and album is still tight. But only a few songs will be revisited in the future for me.

"James is a better lyricist than Dave too. And a waaaayyy better singer for sure."
Jame is the better lyricists of course but both equally sucked in their prime as singers, but i dug them for what they were
though they both improved in singing as they aged, but lacked the punch of their youth
still mustaine is my hero, i think individually he surpasses everyone in the big 4

i really wish they would have trimmed the fat on this and just made some b-sides with most of the second half of the album. still think this is the best thing we could have possibly gotten from metallica at this point in their careers. solid album. also, i strangely think Lars did a pretty good job on this.

"Two months on and album is still tight. But only a few songs will be revisited in the future for me"
This is the album's biggest drawback i'm afraid. No replay value. No song is strong enough to make you re-listen after a few months' time.

I don't know but after a couple of weeks not listening to it, I gave it a spin today while at the gym and it hit me harder than ever before.
Only two songs I could do without are Savage and Murder One... rest ranges from good to awesome for me.

Lmao. It's actually the other way around, go educate yourself. Kirk Hammett actually studied everything that Mustaine made hard in order to replicate it.
"Losing Cliff was a huge loss. Losing Lars would have been a huge win (not to death, but kicking him out or something)"
This, too ^^

Mustaine is one of the reasons Kill 'em All is my favorite album in terms of riffs by these guys. So I think he deserves some praise.
Can't agree with the assessment of Lars though. His management skills and vision for this band played a huge role. Talent alone won't get you far.
