It'll be on YouTube sooner or later. Avoid the low quality radio edits for now.

I’ve got a free trial of Apple Music still valid though I’ve had it for other reasons so it was a surprise that it was even on there. Yeah, I’m digging the song much more on first listen than I did with Utafumi. It sorta reminds me of Un deux though that’s not necessarily a criticism of mine. The Ash remake’s great though my memory of the original’s hazy so I can’t remember how faithful or deviating the remake was by comparison.

Maybe it’s just me, but listening to it the 2nd time onwards...I’m sorry to say, it’s a bit underwhelming for me (maybe I was too hyped for it which is a bad thing). It’s not a bad song at all IMO, and I still think it’s better as a song than Utafumi but that too was kind of meh to me but it sort of grew on me cause it’s a much better song live IMO.
I guess it didn’t exactly blow me away like say for example Rinkaku or even Sustain the untruth by comparison. My major criticism though is that the mixing is a mess. I think this might be just as bad as the mixing on the Vestige Of Scratches remake. I hope this new single comes across much better live.
The Ash remake on the other hand is awesome. That one really blew me away and I didn’t expect much out of it going into it quite honestly.

This new track is like a Frankenstein's monster of ideas, the parts don't flow well at all. I like Kyo's vulgar reminiscent vocal take at the verse, and there's some cool instrumental work, but as a whole it's pretty disappointing.

Is it just me or does Kyo's vocals sound a little shot on it too?

Their choice of mastering is gonna make or break the new album. Either way, new Modes soon!

Its safe to say I shan't be buying the special edition for this new tune though. Sweet groove at the verse though

Also, I'll give my opinion of my single later in the week. Atm I'm burning in my new earphones. They always bring their most interesting ideas in their non-singles, so I'll remain hopefully regardless. Either way, it's gonna be amazing live regardless of whether the album is mastered poorly. I'll still probably buy the special edition one day if I love the Blu Ray content since that's one of the two reasons I buy the singles.

Maybe I’m reading it too literally or it’s lost in translation but I’m so confused and dumbfounded by their explanation of the mixing/mixer emphasizing songs with worldwide popularity I’m not even going to bother explaining why I think that’s very irrelevant in regards to how the song sounds and why it doesn’t even matter. DEG already have a good following overseas IMO that it’s just hilarious to me that’s what they were trying to go for.
On the other hand, I’m really looking forward to Mode Of Macabre and Mode Of Withering to death. as well Calc. I’m gonna have to sit with the single a bit more form get a more objective thought on the single but it’s just my opinion as of now. Again, by no means a TERRIBLE song, it’s just not sitting well with me right now as much as I would like it to be.

It's likely going to be one of the most straightforward tracks on the future album. I imagine there will be some ballads and weirder songs to spice things up, even if they won't rival the ones from the previous three albums.
I do hope they'll use someone else for the mixing and mastering of the album; Tue Madsen did really well before, but if they don't want him again, at least get someone that worked more with metal bands (Jens Bogren did a single, but it won't happen).
The Modes should be cool whenever they arrive.

It seems to me that they've sort of returned to their previous era where the songs were pretty straightforward. Utafumi sort of reminded me of Vulgar era DEG (this new single to some degree as well). I mean, Arche was pretty simplistic in the songwriting already compared to DSS and Uroboros but they had some tricks up their sleeve production wise. Arche had a very reverb heavy production which made the songs sound big and crunchy during the heavy sections but very ethereal and dreamlike during the softer passages (Kaishun and Tousei come to mind with the latter).
Which single did Jens Bogren do? I'm surprised he even worked w/DEG on a single cause he mixed and produced some of the Katatonia stuff and they're one of my favorite bands ever. One producer and mixer that comes to mind that would make a good mixer (at least to me) for DEG is Kurt Ballou (Converge) but I guess he's too underground/not mainstream enough. IDK...I could throw in some engineers/mixers I know very well and it still would come across as weird or not right to me.

Dir really should have gone more atmospheric, would work perfectly for them however for lives I'll probably not complain. Sukekiyo's Adoratio is always there if the new album doesn't deliver since imo that's as good if not better than Dir's best for me. Jens was on Zan, no wonder since it's one of their best singles sound wise. Kurt would be awesome with this band, make it happen please.
