http://www.blabbermouth.net/news/behemoths-upcoming-album-will-feature-an-even-more-organic-yet-still-very-striking-and-very-aggressive-sound/

"Asked what BEHEMOTH's "main focus" was with the sound and the direction of the upcoming album, Nergal said (hear audio below): "Again, to capture the true spirit and nature of the band. And as much as we were happy with 'The Satanist', because we are still super happy with that album… But, then again, obviously, we are the last band on earth to repeat ourselves."

Emphasis mine. Lol at these dudes thinking they don't repeat themselves when they did it for a decade

Ha yeah that's a pretty funny quote. Demigod was Zos Kia pt II, Evangelion was Apostasy pt II, new album will be....?

@Hawks The style is incredibly similar, sure Demigod has those insane layered vocals, but it's just a more breakneck ZKC. Same middle eastern riffage and scales mixed with death metal. It's really not that different, but we can agree to disagree

@darius I was only commenting on the fact that he said they're not a repetitive band, which is hilarious, I love these boys btw, not the other vague bullshit artists love to do before they put out an album

new album will be Satanist II because Behemoth aren't dumb and know what we want. When I saw them they played Chant for Ezkaton along with a lot of newer stuff, so it seems like they definitely picked up on the "we like the fast evil stuff" hints we dropped them after this album.

had a genre argument with my friend last night, and I hadn't really listened to behemoth much till today and he said they were for sure black metal while saying other straight up black metal bands weren't at all. i would pretty much just call this death metal i think.

I'd say that as of Satanica they def crossed the line into death metal. Might be blackened death metal sure but death metal became the dominant genre for them as of that album imo

Tbh this feels like black metal to me (obviously not as much as their first few albums). Thelma 6, Zos Kias Cultas, Demigod and some others feel much more like death metal though.
