I don't get why the new album is has much less love than this. It's honestly a lot more cohesive and memorable. It also sounds a lot more mature, catchy, and focused on as a whole.

It's not s catchy that's the problem. Half the tracks have weak melodies

Yeah This kicks EOE's ass, I'm seeing them live in two weeks for the second time, so maybe the new songs will translate better live.

I dunno they seem to translate pretty well through good headphones already. :3

Agreed that there isn't any subtleties that aren't pick up by a good pair of headphones, but I'm hoping that maybe I'll enjoy the songs more in a live setting. Also they probably thought more about how the songs would translate live on this album compared to their debut, or they at least thought about it more during the creative process, since they've been touring non stop lately.

i don't understand how anybody could think that. eoe is so droll compared to this. the choruses are nowhere near as catchy or melodic. i feel like their whole cutesy shtick has grown exhausting, and after just 2 play-throughs i feel like i've heard the album a hundred times. it just all sounds too bloody similar, which is probably why high enough was such a refreshing moment. this album had so much more variety - it's apparent right in the first 3 songs, which all utilize cool vocal effects and are catchy as hell (in the good way).

it has some great tracks and sounds nice, so it's a 3.5 for me, but it doesn't hold a candle to this. it's also lacking the sweet dancier moments like the amazing latter-half of tether. i feel like they tried something similar on clearest blue but failed.

I keep seeing that people don't like the synths as much on the new one? I think they're an improvement.

"It's also lacking the sweet dancier moments" Really? Empty Threat might be the most danceable track they've ever made.

>like the amazing latter-half of tether.

that whole song is the standout of the album imo
