Wow this album used to be praised pretty hard here until he got really popular.
Haven't listened to the new song though, not sure I want to. Growing Up was actually pretty good.

Eric Nally deserves all the nice things, and I'd love for him to get more attention, but why does it have to be in association with Macklemore? : (

New single makes it pretty clear that Macklemore & Ryan Lewis are just trying to capitalize on the new trend of 70's soul & Funk that Uptown Funk brought back.

That is until the chorus comes in and it loses any sense of identity it had in the first place and turns into a run-of-the-mill hook

Am I the only one that is bothered by how similarly Mackle's verses on Thrift Shop and Uptown open up?

I dig The Heist, but the more and more it looks like they are nothing more than a gimmick now and capitalizing on music trends.

They've always been a gimmick tbh. The best Macklemore songs are the ones where he refrains from all political, social, and musical commentary and just focuses on himself. Everything else and he just contradicts himself or comes off as incredibly forced and fake.

Everyone here check Foxy Shazam's self titled album.

and the worst part about it is the song doesn't have any traces of funk in it

Yep, it's all image and marketing and very little substance.

Introducing and Flamingo are better than the S/T
|
| |
Flamingo is on par, but it's way different. Introducing isn't as good imo though.
