Well, I do like it. Far less proggy than I thought it would be (more of a melodic hard rock sound) and it has a pretty heavy Ghost Reveries vibe going on. The riff groove is catchy as fuck and the vocal harmonies are typical Opeth. Mikael sounds bloody brilliant too, better than his vox on here!
That section with that solo over that sweet ass riff is fucking cool. So ye, go jam it Rowan! Sweet song.

Well, soundwise it is COMPLETELY different. However, I don't think the Devils Orchard sounds like anything else off 'Heritage' and I can't see Opeth doing a whole album like the new song. So in that sense, yes :]

I have to say I prefer devils orchard to this as the first single, but devils orchard was probably my favourite track on Heritage. Some French dude on last fm who's heard the album said cusp was his least favourite song, so I'm definitely looking forward to what else is to come. Also based on the track-by-track on Metal Injection cusp sounds to be the most straight forward un-prog track.
