It's much more technical than anything that came later. There really are some insane riffs on it and dynamically it's pretty interesting. I can see your point Kusangii. Comparing the two is apples and oranges though. Slaughter of the Soul is arguably one of the most influential metal records of the 90's.

Yeah that's fair. The first two are cool albums with more interesting songwriting but this is just so explosive and tight. Dungeon's on point though. They're hard to compare side-by-side, and TRITSK is underrated.

Album gets a surprising amount of hate on this site.

I kinda see why tbh

Since it pretty much gave birth to a certain sub-genre, it's not surprising. Especially when it comes from a band who used to release some of the most innovative DM ever.

yeah this is easily the worst ATG album but it's not bad
|
| |
can't even pretend this is worst ATG when the new one exists
also this is better than terminal fwiw
|
| |
I honestly forgot they had a new one. Never heard it. This and TSD are about on par as being decent but watered down compared to their early stuff
|
| |
Sure this is more influential. But their debut was much more innovative than this. No Death Metal album, except Unquestionable Presence, was as well composed before it.

Think its dumb to say this doesn't rule. I dont care if it's sellout meloqueef.
