Charity as whole is not the problem but poorly managed NGOs. It is getting much better now though. Many NGOs are streamling their activities and adopting new sustainable approaches.

I went to South Africa as well. I was mainly in the Cape Town area and some of the Garden Route,

but it's fucking brilliant, enjoy it!

"sorry, I seem to have misplaced my change! I only have this..."

my proudest moment in Nairobi was when I hassled a guy down to 600 Shillings for something, using

the "this is literally all I have!!" method, then, when we'd agreed on the price, I needed change

from a 2000 note hahahahahaha he was pissed but kind of grinned like he respected that I kicked his

ass

i gotta go to bed benkim otherwise i'd keep this going, cause it's an interesting conversation (the

whole program management kind of thing). next time!

I'll pretty much just be staying in Kruger National Park and on the coast near Mozambique. We were meant to actually go

to Mozambique there but it was changed, which is a little disappointing. We'll be going through Swaziland though which

could be interesting.

Done well, charity is useful, but I think too many people see it as the only solution, or the only solution they're willing to

partake in.

True, people become overdependent on charity and some NGOs do a good job in perpetuate this syndrome. As I have said though, new approaches are being adopted by most organizations. Heck even half the time, what we learn in class is how to end that dependency syndrome and built models of development that the communities can sustain themselves even after the aid has been withdrawn.

Still amazing! If only they didn't put out a follow up that wasn't quite up to scratch.

Wildlife might be better than this. It strikes me as the album the band wanted to make from the start, this has moments where they're straining to make something greater than themselves.

it's a pretty low-key band name, i don't really see how anyone could really have much of an opinion on it tbh.
