idk, just didn't dig the rest so much. this was a car listen after first listening like 3-4 years ago but "providence" def didn't please me. the second song was alright but felt less fun and more conventional than the first one. "nightmare" was nice. didn't like the long closer, especially the vocals and winds. prob a 3.5. def their best

Court is my idea of a bad time. Discipline at least has that song with the Japanese title even if the phasing techniques on other songs feel kinda rote

Yeah idk I always thought Court sucked even in my early days on the Internet music sites. doesn't really matter but I'll air it out
"I Talk to the Wind" bleeeeech

Court grew on me after a relisten but I thought it was very overrated when I first gave it a shot

I dunno the opener kinda sets the mood for Providence and One More Red Nightmare pretty well at the very least. Doesn't feel like much of a false promise.
The only song I'd complain about is Fallen Angel. Starless has grown on me but I still prefer the other three tracks over it.
Never liked Court outside of 21st Century Schizoid Man but it's been a long time since I last tried sitting through it in full.

Aye. Discipline is closest to this and Court, but I couldn’t make a realistic case for it.
Islands and Larks are very good too, again there’s some distance between them in my mind. All very different though, so they’re easy to separate.

Fallen angel and Starless are the best tracks here. Red is a good opener. Nightmare would be better without those splashing sound effects.
Courts great. Felt the same way about it being overrated for a minute but maybe it’s just because I see it too often on those premise “best album” charts and it forced the inner contrarian out of me. I will say, Poseidon gets too much flac for being a “rehash” and lizard I think I like a little more overall

Poseidon is based top 3 KC - yah

Fallen Angel is just really drab to me and Starless is fine but I like this album for dark jazzy and improv stuff. I get that about the splash effects but I don't really find it to be detrimental to the song.

Starless is ‘fine’…
Whaaaaat? I guess you mean fiiiiiine like a fine wine, or fine china or a ‘fine’ looking lady… seriously it’s a GOAT-level song.

Idk the splashing just gets on my nerves
Only thing I dislike about angel is the fact that you can tell the guitar part during the intro was meant to last longer but they do that abrupt fade out just as it starts up
Starless is an obvious epic closer so I get being annoyed by it but the lead guitar melody is perfectly drab and melancholy. That’s the song that made me give a shit about this band
