This thread is so useless... I like it.

Die Hard is shit.

3142 no need to argue as this is factually correct.

Are we now talking Emery or Die Hard? I'm confused.

Die Hard. I only know this Emery.

Oh yeah, forgot about that.
Just watching some icy water as I type this... & Yannis is cold... & I have a tingle in my spine.

[220 word conclusion though; FFFFFUUUUUUUU-]

I don't count words Rosco. I just go by the amount of lines in a paragraph when I am writing. Maybe you have lots of small words... Especially "I".

I don't think I've used "I" once. I don't buy into this first-person mumbo jumbo.
But yeah, the review is long.

Actually oh mighty Staff, I have a grammatical enquiry. Would I be correct in thinking it is poor form to begin a sentence with the word "And"?

You're asking me. My review is only bits & pieces right now, but I think I have 1 sentence that starts with "I" and another 1 that starts with "And". LOL.
Seriously, you can use conjunctions to begin sentences. The 2 rules are (1) don't overuse it, and (2) it will most likely lead to a run-on sentence, so be careful how you use it. You'll know if it feels correct or not.

Well I have one paragraph that starts with "and" butI could easily change it to "yet" or something similar...

If "yet" makes sense, then do it. But careful, "yet" and "and" will practically be contradictory to each other, so I doubt they'd both be suitable in your sentence.
For example: Def Leppard are the best... AND really great.
: Def Leppard are the best... YET really great.
Only "AND" makes sense in this case.

"...a calculated magnum opus serious to the point of disbelief.
And/Yet while the album is both emotionally charged and instrumentally proficient throughout there are still a handful of would-be singles..."
Starting to think "yet" is a much better option

Oh yeah, I can see how both would sort of fit. I think "yet" is more appropriate though, because I am presuming the main point is that it is "serious" (and you are pairing this with "emotionally charged & instrumentally proficient"), but there are still singles... Which is almost contradictory.
But anyway, you missed the main point: Def Leppard are the best!

Well thanks :-) if I hadn't of bought it up I'd have probably left it as "and" so you've helped (marginally) improve my review.
Would you disagree about the serious/singles comparison? Just something in your writing seems to me like it's not necessarily what you'd say.
And you can keep your Def Leppard.

Nah, I'd agree. I mean, nothing is gonna set the charts on fire and there is no Cassius, but there are arguably 3-5 songs which can be added to SS as singles.
As opposed to '...In Shallow Seas We sail' where every song can be released as a single.

Miami, 2 Trees, This Orient and After Glow could all be released and I'd back them all to do quite well in the charts too.

The first 3 for me, not After Glow. 4 singles should be the average for any album anyway.... Except 'Hysteria', which deserved its 7.
