Cult of Luna is the only band of that ilk that's even in the same universe as Neurosis for me

I might actually even go with Ufomammut over Isis, at least recently (though Oceanic is still pretty much a classic)

I think the new Ufomammut might be my favorite of theirs.

shit didn't know you were a hoops fan. I actually think the Nuggets have a somewhat decent chance against the Lakers in that series... I bet it goes at least 6 games.

and yeah eternium, it's really good. they're definitely one of those bands that have 3-4 records that all are extremely close in quality.

I only start paying attention when the playoffs roll around. But it's hard to get real excited about the nuggets. They're good, but not good enough to do anything significant.

From what I've heard I'd say that Meshuggah, Death and Tool are in the same league of Neurosis, but that's pretty much it.

Seriously? Though it's pretty much a cliche at this point, Lateralus is one of the most amazing albums of all time. Even if you're not a fan of the music, at least on a talent level you've got to admit Danny Carey and Maaynard are fucking absurd.

you don't find diversity with neurosis from album to album? And they have 3 vocalists. what more do you want?

Neurosis has quantity and quality on their side, whereas Tool's discography isn't as impressive. That being said, Aenima basically invented an entire genre of music and for all of the years I've been listening to Lateralus (must be around 8 at this point), I still am finding something new with each listen. Lyrically they're about equal. I don't think one triumphs the other in any way, they're both among the best bands of all time IMO

Toll are talented and shit, but there is absolutely no comparing them to a band like Neurosis in terms of consistency, quality, and non-annoying band members.
