My Ashes better Anesthetize [2]
T/t haha [∞]
Way Out of Here is so drab. Sentimental got no reason to exist in a world where Normal also exists.
Anesthetize is great but that and Sleep Together the only reason to ever put this on

Completely agree in regards to Sentimental being replaced with Normal; the former is easily my least favorite song here

going to see porcupine tree for my first time in stockholm next october, too bad i have to wait 11 months -_-

these comments made me revisit the second half of this and uh
Way Out Of Here is just silly dull but Sentimental kinda hits and makes much more sense than Normal on this record regardless of which is the better song (Anaesthetize needs to be chased with a weepy comedown not another centrepiece, cmon even SW isn't that much of a nerd)
maybe it is time for the first half

it is time for the first half
t/t is actually a damn good song, holds up better than i expected kudos kudos
My Ashes is discount Drive Home and SW's inflection on "neverending clouds of rain" is annoying as the start of British Summer Time, but there is a neat phrygian kinda thing going on in the chorus keys so ig it's better than Way Out Of Here
Anaesthetize chugs got old but also the final 1min 20seconds are beautiful so i don't care it is tops
this is like a 3.8

“My Ashes is discount Drive Home“
For me it’s the other way around. Raven’s a great album, but Drive Home is my least favorite from that one by a mile… never understood why people love it so much

The metal instrumental part makes the song worse, but all the quieter moody sections are great. My Ashes and Sentimental are pretty underrated I’m realizing.

"This lyric alone deserves a 5/5"
not something you usually see on a PT/SW thread

Indeed. SW's lyrics can be cringe, but sometimes his simplicity is spot on. Even a broken clock is accurate twice a day

"but sometimes his simplicity is spot on"
Agreed, that's where SW nails it at times. That's why I love Routine's lyrics, they perfectly fit the theme of the monotonous life of a housewife on a midlife crisis

I'd say Lips of Ashes is another good example. Such minimalist lyrics, but they fit the unsettling and cold nature of the music so well

There’re plenty of great PT lyrics, especially the pre-IA albums.

Why does this album have so few listens on Spotify compared to Absentia?
I lost my shit at the ending credits of Control when this starts playing.
|
| |
Because it wasn't on spotify until like last year
