@Emyay for The Pineapple Thief try Someone Here is Missing for their more alt-rock style stuff or Little Man for their slow,

proggier stuff

There's loads of different types of prog too

Neo-prog (80s stuff, Marillion, Pendragon)

Faux prog (some of this, Karnivool, Rishloo)

Post-prog (this, Anathema, The Pineapple Thief)

Heavy prog (some of this, Riverside, Beardfish)

Prog prog (prog prog, King Crimson, Pinky Floyd)

"prog prog"

I think the term you're looking for is 'classic prog'.

Early Porcupine Tree is better. Just so much more lush.

Group faux and post and you're kinda right - too many and too much micro-subgenre-ing but it does make a lot of sense. And yeah your prog prog is just classic.

I have finally found someone else who actually listens to Neo though. Pendragon, IQ, Knight Area, Galahad mmmmmmm
