>They pushed the boundaries of mainstream rock with that album, and went even further with this.
I did not like The Stage when I listened to it. It was so forgettable I don't even remember what the album sounds like. That being said, I stand by what I've said about this album. Plenty of good shit going on, but not cohesive enough to push it into the upper side of the ratings for me.

Early Scott Walker all over (D)eath.
Don't know if I've seen much talk of it, but Easier is probably my takeaway track - even above Cosmic.

Easier's cool, but it may be my least favorite.

I'm on the fence about that one too but its second half is great so it'll win me over with time

Looks like everything is pointing to Easier being the dud of the album (Spotify listens/discourse), but I keep going back to it, even if it's just for the second half specifically.
Also, just listened to (D) out of context and it absolutely does not play well on its own. It needs to be an album closer (effectively)

first time jammer here. on the second track (which is honestly pretty fun) but so far my impression is that the vocalist sounds like he's singing through a tube with a pillow stuffed in it half the time. not into it

loving the mellotron(???) moments and the electric piano talk box sounding guitar stuff, definitely hear the kanye influence sonically

a shame, it rewards repeat listens.

It really does. Mattel/Nobody back to back is extremely rewarding.

The instrumentals are actually better than I thought. The vocals are fucking wack though

unfiltered thoughts incoming:
just finished the album. i like a lot of the moments here and i really respect what they did with this record, despite that i'm definitely struggling to feel th music with my body. i don't get a sense of vision...what are they saying with this music? not every album needs to have a super deep meaning but it does need to come from somewhere and this all feels just a bit too cobbled together for me even though it's a lot of fun
sort of like the embodiment of the 'i'm so RaNdOm" scene girl stereotype except she's 28 years old now and just wants to find a job where she can really ~make a difference in the world~ but she just cant seem to find the right role at the right company
