I think the Lions winning yesterday puts them in the Wild Card hunt.
They'll need a lot of stuff to happen ahead of them, but that offense seems to be getting healthy at the right time. Not out of the question that they run the table.
They have Vikings/Jets/Panthers/Bears/Packers left on the schedule. They could walk away going 5/5 or 4/5 down that stretch honestly.

The only team I don’t see them beating on that schedule are the Vikings, but it is a divisional game so anything can happen.
The Rams get ranked 33 in your next power rankings. Although I do find it kind of funny that we almost beat Seattle with a bunch of backups.

Vikings are very very suspect, I would not be shocked if Detroit catches them with their pants down. Their offensive firepower can really swing things for them, especially in the running game. And as you said, divisional voodoo can cause strange things.
I just want to see the Lions get back to the playoffs!

Can you imagine Goff getting them their first playoff win since Sanders?

I’m just glad the Jags weren’t the most embarrassing blowout of the AFC South this week.
Imagine if they had a receiver like DJ Chark OH WAIT

Y'all
actually
Can we talk about that???
I was transfixed during that fourth quarter. Like, I *had* to know how the Colts would fuck up next. It was incredible.

He played!? I thought the man was benched!

By golly he did. I need to keep better track of this.
In other news, Stafford has a spinal contusion, which aside from the fact that i already knew my season was over that just sounds like an unpleasant injury to have.
Where do you think Mayfield’s gonna land?

Honestly, that might be a career for Stafford. He's an absolute warriors, but he has played through a lot and the injuries keep piling up higher and higher. It just isn't safe for him to keep on with it.
And yeah, Saturday reversed Ryan's benching when he was hired. Can't say it has helped much. It's clear Matt has taken a step back in basically every regard, and his arm strength is pretty abysmal.

[2] on it being a wrap for Stafford. He got his ring and should be proud. His wife has a history with brain conditions and they are probably aware of the long term effects if he keeps going after his latest string of concussions/injuries. Probably smart for his quality of life and I don't blame anyone for stepping away for health related reasons.
Matt Ryan AND Aaron Rodgers could also retire after this year - Ryan's stock has tanked this year and he doesn't seem the type to want to join a team with an uncertain future.

I'm still kind of angry about Russell Wilson's lack of success. I was hyped when we got him instead of Rodgers because Rodgers was 5+ years older and I thought with Wilson we'd get 5-6 great seasons and that Rodgers would just be Peyton all over again with just 2-3 good years, and yet Manning's curse still haunts the Denver Broncos.

The Russ trade is going to go down as possibly the most brutal and unexpected outcome in NFL trade history. No one expected it to be THAT bad. First people were saying it was Hackett but more and more it's becoming obvious that Wilson is the problem, not the change in system or coaching.
The Seahawks are borderline playoff bound right now AND have the #3 pick in the draft from Denver. INSANE.

Woah, hot minute since I saw Venin around. Welcome back!
Seahawks' toughest question this off-season will be what to do about Smith. He's played well enough where he might command a decent contract, and considering how Seattle could push for a playoff spot, you almost have to reward him for it.

Smith has proven to be more than a stopgap for them at this point - could see him signing for 2y/50M (i dont know his current contract situation). Pretty short-term commitment for less than top dollar and it allows them to build around him. If he continues to succeed, extend him. If not, plan to draft or find a veteran on the market at that point.
25M/year is a nice reward for an above average season - probably more than he would get anywhere else and wouldn't cripple the Seahawks capspace.

I feel the same about the Lions honestly. Goff is far from their biggest problem and, like Geno, is playing some pretty good football. Worst thing in the NFL is having a question mark at QB; roll the dice, use picks to build up the defense, and then crack open that contending window.
Goff is also apparently the Lions' nominee for Man of the Year. I'm rooting for hard for him, feel like everyone forgets how much the Rams screwed him regardless of whether or not it was 'deserved'.
As for Tennessee... I smell a rebuild. Gonna miss the winning, but this roster is beyond toast.
