lol budgie... resorting toninsults is just sad.

Di'Ano just never was any good, admit it. There are tons of reasons why Maiden ditched him, including his piss poor performances.

He's definitely not good in the same way Bruce is, but he definitely fits more on tracks like Prowler, Killers, etc

Dunno, i don't like the way he sings and his voice. Some tracks are great, yeah but imo that's more of a band effort than because of Di'anno. And considering how much better the band became with Bruce, it's really telling.

Also he's a bitter punk...keeps dissing on Dickinson after all these years, he's just jealous xD

So that doesn't really play in his favor either.

But yeah, as far as musically, i guess i'm just not a big fan of his style and think maiden became much better starting with number of the beast.

That's fair that you don't like him, I would definitely consider him more an acquired taste than Bruce.

That being said, I was personally very impressed by him the first time I heard him. I had been listening to Iron Maiden for a few years at that point, and it wasn't until I took over listening from the stuff my parents put on to venture out and listen to them on my own that I finally heard his glorious rasp.

I don't think the self-titled or Killers would have been nearly as good if they had ANYONE else - not Bruce, not Rob Halford, not any other NWOBHM singer - as vocalist on those records. He had grittiness but could also belt. He brought this electric punk edge to Harris and co's meticulous compositions.

Dont' get me wrong, he would have held the band back on Number of the Beast and any other subsequent record, but for those two, he was the ONLY person who could sing on them.

dianno on killers st vs. dickinson on something middling like acacia, it's so fucking obvious you have to be mentally deranged to think dianno at his best isnt better than the majority of dickinsons tracks

Dianno could've sung on TNOTB in my opinion.....that album still has some of the rawness as the first two. We've heard Bruce sing those songs for almost 40 years, so of course, we couldn't possibly hear it any other way.

Budgie, stop being delusional. There's absolutely no way Di'Anno could sing most of Dickinson's songs.

And, again, insulting others because they disagree is kinda sad, man.

@Thespirit: Fair points. I didn't listen at the time (i'm from 82 ^^ ) so maybe i would have reacted differently. When i started listening to Maiden, punk wasn't so hot anymore so...

Still, Dickinson has rare vocal talent and he doesn't do drugs, isn't drunk on stage, etc.

hmm, that would be going to far imo but yeah, Di'Anno is great and fits this style

"Still, Dickinson has rare vocal talent and he doesn't do drugs, isn't drunk on stage, etc."

Well Dickinson is one of the best vocalists ever so many great singers won't look good when standing against him. that doesn't mean they're bad. And, while I'm not saying it is something good, I think all of us love at least one musician that performs or has performed drunk or on drugs, like, we all know it isn't that uncommon
