The amazing thing is that can still be edgy in 2020

Sometimes one of a band's most popular songs can be meh
I mean Smells Like Teen Spirit is another good example,
Shiny Happy People by R.E.M.

It's obviously not true and saying it was is being edgy that's why lol

Pointing out a popular song as the worst is always a bit edgy

Did I say that? I don't think so. How Stairway with its huge buildup and iconic solo and mystic mood is supposed to be the worst here is just something I don't understand. I see why it could be not the best. But worst? Come on

That buildup takes forever (legit 5 minutes and 54 seconds) like my god the song doesn't even feel like the song has actually started until 4 minutes in. Like man, I like prog, but prog bands don't even take that long typically. Then that "bustle in your hedgerow" part happens and I'm pretty hooked, that weird pattern (used to disguise backmasked lyrics) part sounds cool, but yeah eventually it hits the shreddy guitar solo part and finally gets going and it's cool I guess, but is it nearly as epic as Levee or Evermore? Fuck no.
So I don't hate it or anything, but I do find it underwhelming

I guess I just like that lengthiness lol. Never liked Evermore that much tbh.

stairway being worst is just ridiculous
even more if you take into account that four sticks is the worst song zeppelin ever did

Four Sticks is FAR from my fave on here, but it's got a great groove
It's only real problem is its underwhelming chorus

Worst LZ is either "Baby Come Home" or "Hats Off to (Roy) Harper"

Judgy opinion time:
I've noticed a lame trend on Sput with Zeppelin fans disliking their groovier/rhythm-based tracks (like Four Sticks, The Crunge, and Hots on For Nowhere etc.) while praising their epic shreddy guitar songs as the best
Makes me think I'm surrounded by a bunch of boring metalheads on Zeppelin threads, when Zeppelin is so much more than a link in the metal history chain

i actually like quite a lot hats off, and zep III overall
four sticks just sucks, the "groove" is annoying as hell
Regarding the trend idk, sputnik certainly has a solid metal community, but your reduction of them seems far too simplistic, like why wouldnt someone be able to properly appreciate metal and other (somewho associated or not) genres equally

I mean it's hard not to draw that conclusion when the big praise for Stairway is that it's a huge buildup to a guitar solo (ironically one of the things I find most boring about it)

who told you sputnikers know their music, most of them are clueless kids
i'm the first one to tell you that when i first discovered zeppelin, i mostly loved their blues-based, guitar-driven hard rock sound and then i slowly realized just how much more there is to their music
they're probably the most diversified act in the history of rock n roll

"they're probably the most diversified act in the history of rock n roll"
They're very diverse, but like yeah, most diverse? Nah what about like Zappa
Also, I'm 24, so I might be one of the kids you're referring to haha
