Their best song since Simple Math hit us with "Pale Black Eye," "Virgin," and "Simple Math" back-to-back-to-back, agreed

I used to think they couldn't top Simple Math but Black Mile feels like the emotional fulfillment of that record's bombast. Like, SM had a few moments that felt like overreaching, everything here feels - to me at least - like there's strong underlying purpose. I actually slightly prefer Lead over any of the three songs you mentioned albeit my reasons are biased/personal. Simple Math's title track may objectively be the best thing they've done.

This is my favorite album by the band but I wouldn't call it their best. Do yourself a favor and check out I'm Like a Virgin Losing a Child or Mean Everything to Nothing. They're earlier, more raw, and carry quite a bit more heft in their sound.

Forrest Whittaker from Bad Books is one of my favorite songs Andy does. Love the lyrics and sound.

I prefer Virgin, Simple Math, Leave It Alone, personally...but I still think The Alien, The Sunshine and The Grocery are untouchable together

Expecting not to see this in any 'top of the 10s' top 100 lists come December
Just sayin

Like A Virgin is their best album, took a long time to see it

For me, this is their best album and it isn't even close. Lead SD has revealed itself as the best song over several plays. The verses are just killer. The Alien would probably be my second favourite.

Pangea, listen to this again. It's not a 2.5 that's for sure

I prefer the subtle approach here as opposed to their most forward directive on previous albums.
