wasn't 100% bought on it on first listen and I'm still not loving every single track, but I do like danny's delivery on this much more than his other releases and the beats are dope af.

I like this.

I pretty much just put tell me what I don't know, really though, gold dust, and when it rain on repeat. I am coming around to dance in the water though, I just found it kind of obnoxious at first.

I dunno I find Danny Brown obnoxious in the same way I find David Yow obnoxious, and I love them both to pieces

their voices are kinda like when Chemical Brothers chuck some straight up caustic noise into their music, gets my blood boiling and my heart pumping

His obnoxiousness is one of the biggest factors in why I find him so appealing.

I never thought Danny brown was obnoxious, it was just kind of like this culmination of him shouting DANCE IN THE WATER NOT GET WET and the music backing him with the voice samples and all that where I was just not feeling it. It's not too bad though.

I think he's obnoxious af, a song like Ain't It Funny gets so up in your grill but I love that

also his delivery really reinforces his narratives of weed-induced paranoia and the id run wild

I'd say he's just more relentless with his music just because obnoxious usually carries a negative connotation.

Nope, the right word is definitely obnoxious in this case. It's not that he doesn't let up, it's that the actual sound is grating.

I find the production aesthetic of this album quite captivating initially, though over the course of the album some of the tracks fall into very repetitive and unambitious structures and stylings. The first song does a great job setting the tone, and if the whole album matched that quality and mood it would be better off. 5 tracks in I usually want to turn the album off.

I think someone needs to write a negative review on this.

I'd much rather have music that is caustic, grating and antagonistic than flat as fuck

At its down points I wouldn't call this "caustic and antagonistic" I would call it childish and annoying. At its high points, like the opener, this album captures a very cool dystopian atmosphere. Unfortunately there aren't enough of them.
