Bad joke.

is this band still telling everyone in interviews that music these days is just rip offs and nobody has any new ideas despite the fact they just released a rip off shitty prog album from the 80s?

@BigBlob When did they say that? I think they claim artists don't do what they want to, just do what their audiences want them to do.

only thing that's progressive about Opeth nowadays is that they're getting progressively worse

15+ years since they released a great album. I don't know why I have any expectations at all at this point.

Okay, maybe 10 years if you think Ghost Reveries or Damnation are great. I don't.

Heritage was excellent, PC was not on the same level but had a couple of great songs, this one I don't even have a need to hear it ever again. basically every next album since GR was worse than the one before it.

The only misteps I count are Deliverance (which still had some great songs) and Pale Communion. This is of course not on par with Heritage, but is a great album, nonetheless. Still listen to it with the same pleasure.

I don't even like Heritage. It seems pretty much the same to me as PC. Not terrible, just pretty listless and not something I care to listen to.
